Mandibola was the school newsletter that students of section B of the ITC Fontana in Rovereto published without any authorization. Printed on a mimeograph — as was customary at the time, when photocopiers were beyond the reach of students — issue zero was the first and only issue ever published, and it collects texts, poems and prose from a group of young people who wanted to make themselves heard.
Among the authors is a teenage Alessandro Moschini, who publishes his first short story in these pages: a text written by hand, resting the paper on his knees, while waiting to enter the Trento military district office for his draft physical. A doubly precious document: as a testament to a lively, independent school-era cultural season, and as the first written trace of a voice that would keep searching for itself for decades to come.
On September 22, 1986, the Direction of the School of Theatre run by Giorgio Strehler informed Alessandro Moschini of his admission to the first selection round, set for Tuesday, December 9 at 5pm at the Milan location on Via degli Angioli 3. The notice was signed by Deputy Director Enrico D'Amato.
A meaningful recognition: being selected for the audition of the school founded by one of the absolute masters of 20th-century European theatre was no ordinary thing.
